Tuna Charter (up to 4 passengers)

The day will start out before sunrise when you will be met by the captain and first mate. After a quick briefing of the safety equipment and operation of the head we will depart Sesuit Harbor heading north toward the tip of Provincetown. If the conditions are good the trip takes approximately 50 minutes. Once we clear the tip of Provincetown we will head to the Stellwagon Banks area to the fishing grounds (it may take between 15 minutes to an hour to arrive at our fishing location depending on condition and location of the fish). Once we locate a spot to begin fishing the crew will show all anglers the proper use of all fishing equipment on board. You will be shown how to operate the lever drag reels, the outriggers, and how to set the gear. After the lines are set we will assign tasks for each person on deck so there is no confusion upon hook up. With our explanation of all the equipment and procedures you will find it very easy and enjoyable to experience the thrill of the catch when the action starts. While fishing on most occasions you will see whales, dolphins, basking sharks as well as many other forms of sea life. Most customers are just as impressed with the abundance of sea life that they see as the fishing experience. It will surely be a trip to remember.

All rods and reels will be provided. We use Penn Lever drag reels in 130 and 80 sizes. All lures and bait are also provided. You are welcome to bring your own equipment if you would like but you must first get prior approval from the Captain. We will take no responsibility for any damage or loss to any equipment you bring on board.

We will take digital pictures of your party, trip, and catch and send you a disc of the pictures free of charge.

Please understand that Bluefin Tuna is a highly migratory fish and one of the oceans most elusive species. We have a great track record for putting our customers “on the fish”, however we cannot guarantee that you will hook one. We spend many days on the ocean fishing for Bluefin tuna and we have many other captains that we stay in contact with on the latest locations of these fish as well as keeping up to date with the latest fishing reports. If you are the type of person that expects a 100% guarantee that you will land a giant Bluefin and will vent your frustration to the captain and crew, then please do not book a charter with us. This trip is not recommended for the impatient fisherman.

All Bluefin tuna fishing is regulated by the NMFS and all rules regarding equipment and catch limits will be strictly enforced. You may view the rules at: https://hmspermits.noaa.gov/default.asp

The average size Bluefin Tuna we catch is 60”. The federal retention limit for our boat is one fish per day 27”-72”. Our boat rule is that we will not retain any Bluefin smaller than 45”. We do this to help protect the species as we feel that any tuna smaller than 45” does not yield enough meat to justify killing a fish that is capable of growing up to 1200 lbs. After retaining a fish we will continue to fish however all additional fish must be released. If you would like to keep your catch it will be prepped and iced to preserve the fish for your consumption. All ice is included and the fish can be quartered for you at the dock (It is customary to tip the first mate for quartering your fish). Any Blue fin tuna 73” or larger will be considered a commercial fish and becomes property of the boat under NMFS rules.

If a commercial fish is landed, customers will receive 1/3 of the gross moneys received from the sale of the fish.
